Minister Cracks Down on Exam Malpractices

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has directed JAMB, WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB to blacklist CBT centers and candidates involved in examination malpractices. This directive follows widespread cheating during the 2025 UTME.

Penalties for Malpractice 👇🏾

👉 CBT centers involved in malpractice will be derecognized for a specified period.

👉 Students involved will be barred from sitting for external examinations in Nigeria for three years.

Legal Backing

The minister cited Section 16(2) of the Examination Malpractices Act, which allows examination bodies to share information on offenders and impose similar punishments.

JAMB's Findings

JAMB had reported advanced malpractices, including hacking, impersonation, and collusion with CBT center proprietors. Over 3,000 candidates have been implicated, and results of those involved will be withdrawn.
