In a directive issued after deliberations by the National Executive Council [NEC], ASUU stated that the decision became necessary due to the continued non-implementation of key provisions of the agreement relating to funding, revitalisation of universities, earned academic allowances, and welfare of academic staff. As a result, academic activities in the affected 20 universities have been disrupted with immediate effect.
