Students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, have called on security agencies and relevant authorities to provide clear and accurate information regarding the reported rescue of corps members allegedly abducted in Kogi State.

The call follows conflicting reports circulating on the fate of the victims, with some sources claiming a rescue operation while others allege that ransom demands are still being made.

In a statement issued by the Students’ Union leadership, FUNAAB students expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of the corps members, many of whom are graduates of FUNAAB and other tertiary institutions.

“We are seeking urgent clarification from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and NYSC authorities. The conflicting reports and rumors of ransom payments are causing anxiety among students, parents, and the entire university community,” the statement read.

The students urged the government to prioritize the safe release of the abducted corps members and to ensure that accurate updates are communicated to the public to avoid misinformation.

They also called for improved security along major highways and in rural communities to prevent further incidents targeting youth corps members and travelers.
