On the Federal Government's disposition to the welfare of workers in the education sector:
The government has shown a lack of interest in addressing university issues and staff welfare. The 2009 agreement aimed to reverse the deteriorating state of affairs but remains unimplemented.
On the contributing factors to the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement:
The government's lack of interest and failure to review the agreement have exacerbated the challenges. President Bola Tinubu needs to address these issues.
On strike action:
Strike is a universal tool, and ASUU cannot rule it out. The decision to strike depends on the government's willingness to resolve the issues.
On NELFUND:
The economy needs to be strong for student loans to be viable. Instead of loans, ASUU suggests scholarships or grants to support students.
On the Bilateral Education Agreement scholarship scheme:
Discontinuing the scheme is a step backward. Education is international and universal, and such agreements promote reciprocal learning.
On funding tertiary institutions:
The government should revisit the 2009 agreement, which provides a clear direction on university funding.
On brain drain:
Improving conditions would reduce brain drain. Members leave due to poor conditions, and the government knows what needs to be done to address this.
On cultism in universities;
Cultism is exacerbated by economic hardship. Addressing these issues and providing support to students can help curb cultism.
