The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued an apology for the delayed conduct of English Language Paper 2 in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). According to Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs Department of WAEC, the council encountered significant challenges while prioritizing examination integrity and security.

Reasons Behind the Delay:👇🏾

👉 Preventing Leakage: WAEC's primary objective was to prevent any paper leakage, which led to considerable challenges.

👉 Logistical Hurdles: Despite best efforts, the council faced logistical issues that impacted the examination's timeliness.

👉 Security Concerns: Security concerns also played a role in the delayed conduct of the examination.

👉 Socio-Cultural Factors: Additionally, socio-cultural factors negatively influenced the operations.

WAEC's Commitment: 👇🏾

WAEC successfully achieved its objective of maintaining examination integrity but apologized for any inconvenience caused to candidates, schools, and parents. The council reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standard in examination conduct and promoting academic excellence.

Measures to Prevent Future Delays:👇🏾

To prevent examination leakage, WAEC has implemented various measures, including:👇🏾


👉 Biometric Access Control: Biometric access control devices at the Security Printing Division to ensure authorized access.

👉 Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV): CCTV monitoring of question paper production.

👉 Tamper-Proof Envelopes: Use of tamper-proof envelopes to seal question papers.

👉 Sensitization Process: Sensitization of candidates and the public on examination malpractices and their effects.
