JUST IN 🔥🔥 100M RANSOM DEMANDED FOR ABDUCTED WAEC STUDENTS IN RIVERS.
BY RICHMOND 🍯
Pirates who abducted 13 passengers, including eight students heading to sit the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in Rivers State, have demanded a ransom of N100 million for their release. The abductors hijacked two passenger boats along the Port Harcourt-Bille waterways on May 6 and have been holding the victims captive since then.
Dr. Osaki Miller, a local leader and former Youth President of Bille Kingdom, confirmed the ransom demand, expressing concern over the safety and health conditions of the victims. He questioned how the families could possibly raise such a huge sum and urged security agents to secure the release of the abductees.
Miller called on the State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), to intervene and ensure the captives are rescued unhurt. He noted that the community had lodged complaints with security agencies and the government and even staged a protest, but so far, no action has been taken.
A former Chairman of Bille Community, Fibite Bibi, disclosed that one of the victims, a security personnel, was released last Friday. However, the abductors are still demanding N100 million for the remaining captives. Bibi urged the security agencies to take necessary action and rescue the victims, as the community cannot afford to pay the ransom.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that efforts are being intensified to secure the release of the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
