Peter Obi Expresses Concern Over Poor UTME Results

Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over the recently released Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. According to JAMB, out of 1,955,069 applicants, only over 420,000 candidates scored 200 or above, while over 1.5 million candidates (78% of all candidates) failed to reach the 200-mark barrier.

- Obi described the results as a reflection of Nigeria's decaying education system, citing years of neglect and underinvestment.
- He emphasized that education is a strategic national investment, not just a social service.

- Bangladesh's National University enrolls over 3.4 million students, despite having only 75% of Nigeria's population.
