JUST IN 🔥🔥JAMB SCHEDULES MOP-UP EXAM FOR CANDIDATES WHO MISSED INITIAL UTME DATES.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed plans to conduct a special mop-up examination for candidates who were unable to participate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The announcement was made by JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday. He disclosed that the initiative is aimed at accommodating over 5.6% of candidates who missed the main exam, regardless of the reasons for their absence.
“We are introducing a new mop-up exam. Even those who were absent will now have another chance to sit for the test,” Oloyede said, adding that it is a common practice in serious academic systems to allow make-up opportunities when students miss exams, provided the process is not abused.
The Registrar reiterated that the UTME is a selection tool designed to rank candidates for limited admission spaces, not a test of intelligence or academic ability.
Responding to public criticism and allegations of bias in the examination process, Oloyede dismissed claims of ethnic favoritism or incompetence, affirming his commitment to leadership and accountability.
“I take responsibility not because of failure, but because leadership demands it. We must reject ethnic profiling and focus on progress,” he said.
Oloyede also commended both candidates and examination officials for their resilience despite logistical hurdles, noting that delays could have jeopardized students’ chances of securing university placements.
Details of the special mop-up exam will be released in due course, as JAMB continue to prioritize fairness and transparency in its Admission Process
