Kwara State Mandates Residency Registration for Students

The Kwara State government has introduced a new requirement for primary and secondary school students seeking to sit for national and state examinations. According to Alhaji Tajudeen Jimoh, Acting General Manager of the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA), students must register with KWASRRA and present evidence of registration to be eligible to take exams such as WAEC, NECO, and Common Entrance.

Consequences of Non-Registration:

- Students who fail to register may be barred from sitting for their examinations.

Background:

- The directive is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s initiative to expand residency registration to all residents in the state.
- To facilitate the registration process, the number of registration centers has been increased from 96 to 136 across the state.

- The directive has been communicated to relevant ministries, agencies, and traditional rulers through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
