McPherson University Appoints New University Librarian

McPherson University has appointed Dr. Jerome Idiegbeyan-Ose as its new University Librarian. The appointment was confirmed in a letter dated April 9, 2025, and signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Babatunde Idowu.

Dr. Idiegbeyan-Ose's Background:

- Over 20 years of experience in library services, academic leadership, and institutional development.
- Holds a Ph.D. in Information Resources Management from Babcock University (2017).
- Certified member of professional bodies, including the Nigerian Library Association and Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria.

Previous Experience:

- Served as University Librarian at Landmark University (2018-2020).
- Polytechnic Librarian at Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji (2020-2025).
- Worked in various higher institutions, including Benson Idahosa University and Covenant University.

Expectations:

- Dr. Idiegbeyan-Ose is expected to bring innovation and positive change to the McPherson University Library.
- Scheduled to assume his role on May 2, 2025.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law.
