Mudiame University in Edo State has received approval from the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) for eight new programs. This development is part of the institution's efforts to address the skills gap in critical industries in Nigeria. The accredited programs include Software Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Biotechnology.
The university's Chancellor, Prof. Sunny Eromosele, emphasized the need for Nigeria to bridge its technical skills gap to compete globally. He highlighted the institution's focus on practical, industry-driven training, which prepares students for real-world challenges. The university has partnered with University West in Sweden to provide semester-long exchange programs, international internships, and joint research projects.
Mudiame University aims to produce graduates who can assume core technical roles in critical sectors such as oil and gas, engineering, and advanced manufacturing. The institution has also secured ISO certification programs in food technology, environmental systems, cybersecurity, and safety through a partnership with EBS, USA.
By aligning its curriculum with industry needs and embedding students in ongoing projects, Mudiame University is contributing to Nigeria's broader industrialization effort. The university's goal is to produce globally competitive graduates who can thrive both at home and abroad.
