President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration has factored universities and other tertiary institutions into its plan for increased funding, enabling them to compete globally. Represented by Prof. Simeon Banire, Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Tinubu stated that his administration is committed to working with staff unions to prevent industrial actions.

Speaking at the 61st Foundation Day and 35th convocation ceremony of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Tinubu praised the institution's management for successfully transforming from a College of Education to a University. He noted that the upgrade aims to provide expanded opportunities for Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) graduates to gain university admissions.

Tinubu acknowledged that the upgrade process may present challenges but expressed confidence that solutions would be found. He assured that his administration is taking proactive steps to address emerging issues and resolve them, ensuring the growth and development of Nigeria's tertiary education sector.
