JUST IN 🔥🔥 REPS PUSH FOR IMPROVED NYSC ORIENTATION CAMPS.
BY Hola ⚡
The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to establish more permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps and upgrade existing ones to accommodate the growing number of corps members. This call was made after a motion was passed during a plenary session, highlighting the need for improved facilities to support the NYSC scheme.
The lawmakers noted that some states lack permanent orientation camps, while others use temporary facilities such as secondary school buildings. They expressed concern over the dilapidated state of existing camps, which often leads to corps members being redeployed to neighboring states.
The House resolution calls on the Federal Government to collaborate with state governments to construct new camps and expand existing ones to accommodate at least 5,000 participants per state. The resolution also mandates the relevant committees to ensure compliance and report back within four weeks.
