JUST IN 🔥🔥SSANU, NASU PETITION FG FOR ACTION.
BY RICHMOND 🍯
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have expressed deep concern over the delay in payment of April 2025 salaries to their members across federal tertiary institutions. According to union sources, the delay might be linked to the recent migration from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) to the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) platform.
SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim, wrote a letter to the Accountant General of the Federation, highlighting the consistent delay in salary payments since the migration to GIFMIS. The letter was also copied to relevant ministers and the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission. Ibrahim described the delay as a violation of the 2022 agreement between the Federal Government and the Joint Action Committee of SSANU and NASU.
The union leader warned that the delay could erode industrial harmony within the university system and urged the Accountant General to investigate and resolve the issue urgently. Several university lecturers confirmed the non-payment of April salaries, expressing frustration and disappointment over the delay.
