The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its transparency in addressing the challenges that occurred during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). NOA's Director General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, lauded JAMB's Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for acknowledging the lapses, describing it as a "rare and commendable act of leadership".
While praising JAMB's transparency, NOA urged the examination body to implement remedial measures, including compensation for affected candidates who suffered stress and anxiety. The 2025 UTME faced significant challenges, leading to the rescheduling of exams for approximately 379,997 candidates in the South-East and Lagos regions.
NOA emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in public institutions, stating that JAMB's example should serve as a model for others. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a governance culture anchored in trust, integrity, and mutual respect.
