The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has threatened to sue the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over the high failure rate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). ASUU-UNN Chairman, Comrade Oyibo Eze, claims the massive failure, particularly affecting candidates from the South East, is a deliberate attempt to limit admission opportunities for students from that region.

Massive Failure Statistics:
👉 Over 1.5 million candidates scored less than 200 out of 400 marks in the UTME.
Only 4,756 candidates scored 320 and above, considered top-tier performance.
ASUU's Concerns:
Oyibo Eze alleges JAMB's bias against South Eastern candidates, stating they need higher scores to secure admission compared to candidates from other regions.
He questions the validity of failing entire exam centers due to suspected malpractice by a few candidates.

JAMB's Response:
The board has initiated an expedited review of the 2025 UTME process, citing unusual public complaints.
