The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Government High School and Government Day Secondary School, both located in Adeta, Ilorin West Local Government Area, following incidents of student unrest.
This directive was issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, at the ministry’s headquarters in Ilorin.
According to Dr. Olohungbebe, the closure affects all students except those currently participating in the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE). He clarified that only SSSCE candidates and their teachers will be permitted access to the school premises during the examination period.
He also emphasized the need for students sitting for the exams to carry valid identification cards when coming to the school, and advised parents and guardians to ensure their children remain at home throughout the closure.
The Commissioner warned that any student found violating the directive would be dealt with by security personnel.
