The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) is set to introduce a new template to streamline the disbursement of federal funds for the Universal Basic Education (UBE) program. According to UBEC Executive Secretary Aisha Garba, the template aims to address existing challenges and gaps in accessing intervention funds.

The new template is part of UBEC's efforts to realign basic education delivery with four strategic pillars:

👉 Expanding Access: Increasing access to UBE, especially for rural and underserved populations.

👉 Enhancing Quality: Improving teaching and learning standards nationwide.

👉 Strengthening Accountability: Ensuring effective use of basic education finances.

👉 Optimizing Monitoring: Strengthening institutional systems for quality service delivery.

The Hope Education Project, a performance-based initiative, rewards states that judiciously allocate resources to education, aligning with these pillars. The new template will enable State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs) to prepare work plans for accessing UBE intervention funds.

UBEC's Deputy Executive Secretary, Tunde Ajibulu, emphasized the importance of this initiative, encouraging participants to contribute to developing workable templates. The interactive workshop aims to finalize the template, ensuring effective implementation of the UBE program.
