Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced the renaming of The Polytechnic, Ibadan to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan. The announcement was made during an interdenominational commendation service for the late former governor, Omololu Olunloyo, held at the Obafemi Awolowo stadium in Ibadan.

The renaming is a tribute to the late former governor, who was the pioneer Rector of the institution. The governor's announcement marks a significant milestone in honoring the legacy of Omololu Olunloyo, who passed away just weeks before his 90th birthday.

The Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan will continue to uphold the values and standards that the late former governor embodied during his tenure as Rector. The renaming is a testament to his enduring impact on the institution and the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law.
