The Kogi State Polytechnic has withdrawn 273 students due to poor academic performance in the 2024/2025 academic session. The decision was made at the 120th meeting of the institution's Academic Board.

The withdrawal affects students across 20 departments and 42 programs who failed to meet the academic benchmark. The Board Chairman, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, expressed dissatisfaction with the students' performance despite the institution's conducive learning environment.
In a related development, six students have been expelled from the Polytechnic for examination misconduct and related offenses. The Board approved the expulsion after reviewing the reports of the Central Examination Misconduct Committee.

The Rector, Professor Usman, commended the committees for their thorough work and called for sustained synergy to maintain the quality of teaching and learning. The institution remains committed to reforms that benefit the Polytechnic community.
Students who have been withdrawn or expelled are required to submit all Polytechnic properties, including their Identity cards, to the Security unit before exiting the institution.
