The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has increased the matching grant allocation to states for quality assurance from 2% to 5%. This move aims to strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of basic education across Nigeria.

UBEC's Commitment to Quality Education 👇🏾

UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, announced the increase during a three-day refresher training and strategic meeting in Abuja. The meeting brought together stakeholders to discuss the new quality assurance reporting template and related tools. Garba emphasized that the increased funding demonstrates the commission's commitment to improving learning outcomes through data-driven decision-making and stronger accountability systems.

Strategic Investment in Education 👇🏾

The 5% allocation is a strategic investment in system reform and educational standards, aligning with UBEC's 2025-2028 strategic blueprint. Garba called on stakeholders to align with the evolving standards and monitoring tools, emphasizing the importance of using data to drive meaningful improvements in teaching and learning.

The Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical) of UBEC, Rasaq Olajuwon Akinyemi, highlighted the critical role of quality assurance in strengthening the education system. The Director of Quality Assurance, Ada Ogwuche, noted that the training is essential in today's dynamic educational landscape, aligning with UBEC's vision for better outcomes.
