The University of Ilorin has been chosen to host a digital innovation hub under the Federal Government's Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises programme. The selection was announced in a letter to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu.
The initiative aims to foster job-creating enterprises and equip young Nigerians with 21st-century skills in technology, creativity, and innovation. The project will be implemented with support from the Federal Government and international partners.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Egbewole, expressed gratitude for the selection and assured the Federal Government of the institution's full cooperation. He disclosed plans to launch an appeal fund for the innovation hub as part of the university's Golden Jubilee celebration.
The digital innovation hub is expected to strengthen industry-academic linkages, nurture talents, and drive enterprise development. The university remains committed to ensuring the hub delivers value to students and contributes to national development.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law.
