A group of teachers employed between 2018 and 2021 have protested in Abuja, demanding immediate payment of their long-overdue salaries. The teachers claim they have not received salaries for three years and have been forced to live on debt, taking loans to survive.

The protesters gathered at the Ministry of Finance, accusing the government of neglect and bureaucratic delays. They lamented the hardship endured over the years, despite their commitment to duty, including teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The teachers claim to have exhausted all formal channels, appealing to the Ministry of Education, Civil Service Commission, and Head of Service, but to no avail. They insist that the Ministry of Finance is the bottleneck in the payment process.

The protest highlights growing discontent over funding, delayed salaries, and staff welfare in Nigeria's education sector. The teachers vow to continue their demonstration until the government provides clear answers and concrete timelines for settling all salary arrears.
As of press time, officials from the Ministry of Finance have yet to respond to the protesters' demands. The teachers remain resolute, seeking resolution to their long-standing grievances.
