Al-Hikmah University has officially appointed Professor Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji as the 6th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution, following approval from the University’s Governing Council.

Before stepping into this new role, Professor Oladimeji served as the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Over the years, he has held several key positions within the university. He was the first Head of the Department of Islamic Studies and a founding member of the University Senate. He also served as the first Registrar and Secretary to the University Council, as well as the first Director of the Centre for Part-Time and Professional Studies (CPPS).

His other roles include Director of the Centre for Research, Industrial Linkages and International Collaboration (CRIIC), head of the Information Unit, Director of Academic Planning (DAP), and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC). In addition, Professor Oladimeji was the university’s first Inaugural Lecturer. He delivered his lecture on January 7th, 2022, titled: “Roving Preachers of the Message: Deconstructing Da’wah Across.”

                        1 minutes read ⏱️ 9:45pm The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several officials of the Academic Staff Union of Universities [ASUU], Imo State University [IMSU] Chapter, in connection with the ongoing strike action by the union. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law. ASUU-IMSU had embarked on strike to press home demands including payment of arrears, improved funding, and implementation of agreements with the state government.
