The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to all tertiary institutions, stating that admissions for the 2024 and 2025 academic sessions will not be approved for any institution that fails to submit its matriculation list as required.

This directive follows the Federal Ministry of Education’s earlier mandate requiring all tertiary institutions to submit their matriculation lists to JAMB — a measure aimed at curbing the rising cases of illegal admissions.

Speaking during a meeting with Admission Desk Officers, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, as reported in the Board’s bulletin, emphasized:

> “Institutions which fail to submit their matriculation list for the 2022 and 2023 admissions should not have their admissions approved for the 2024 and 2025 admission exercises.”

While notingthat a concession is being granted for the 2024 admissions due to ongoing processes in some institutions, Prof. Oloyede stressed that full compliance is mandatory once current admissions conclude. He warned that “erring institutions” would be made examples of, with specific sanctions to be announced in due course.

As part of enforcement measures, defaulting institutions will be summoned for meetings with JAMB, while affiliate institutions will be required to appear alongside their parent institutions where applicable. Penalties will be clearly outlined during these engagements.

In addition, JAMB will publish advertisements in major national dailies to notify all institutions of the policy, reiterating that admission approvals will be withheld from non-compliant institutions.

JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that the list of defaulting institutions will be made available to Hõlå INFO ℹ️
