The Lagos State University (LASU) is pleased to announce the commencement of applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme for the 2025/2026 academic session. The programme will run from October 2025 to September 2026 and will be held at the LASU Epe Campus.
The PDS Programme is an intensive, one-session academic preparation initiative designed for candidates with deficiencies in their O’Level results. It aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills to successfully re-sit their examinations, as well as prepare them for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for admission into LASU’s 100 Level degree programmes.
In line with the University’s commitment to quality and integrity, all admitted students will reside in the school’s hostels for the duration of the programme.
Why Choose LASU Pre-Degree Studies?
Unlike many candidates who struggle to gain admission through the general JAMB process, PDS students who pass the UTME benefit from LASU’s dedicated PDS admission quota. This pathway offers a distinct advantage for securing admission into the University.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must have:
At least three (3) credit passes in relevant subjects (Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, Economics, Literature in English, CRS, IRS, Accounting) from SSCE, GCE, or NECO, obtained in not more than two sittings.
Successful candidates will be invited for a written qualifying examination.
Subjects Offered in the Programme:
Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, Economics, Literature in English, Christian Religious Studies (CRS), Islamic Religious Studies (IRS), Accounting.
Criteria for Transition to 100 Level
To progress to 100 Level at LASU, candidates must:
Sit for the UTME and meet the minimum JAMB cut-off mark for university admission.
Satisfy LASU’s screening requirements.
Pass all outstanding O’Level subjects in WAEC and/or NECO examinations.
Successful candidates may be admitted into faculties such as Engineering, Science, Management Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, Law, Agriculture, Transport, Mass Communication, Nursing, Dentistry, and the College of Medicine.
Track Record of Success
Despite the generally low performance nationwide in the 2025 UTME, LASU’s PDS students achieved outstanding results:
89% scored 200 and above.
Several candidates scored above 300, highlighting the effectiveness of the programme’s rigorous academic approach and CBT training.
