The Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has appointed Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution, marking a historic milestone as the university's first female Vice-Chancellor.

Highlights of the Appointment

👉🏼Outgoing VC: Prof. Timothy Adebayo, whose five-year tenure ends this month, was commended for exceptional leadership driving "tremendous growth" amid Nigeria's challenging economic landscape.

👉🏼Chairman's Remarks: Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo, Chairman of the Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor, praised Prof. Adebayo's achievements and unveiled Prof. Oduwole as his successor during a ceremony following the council meeting on Wednesday.

👉🏼Growth Achievements: The university saw notable advancements under Prof. Adebayo, with the external auditor’s report indicating substantial progress.

👉🏼Teamwork Acknowledgment: Prof. Adebayo’s success was attributed to collaborative efforts of the management, principal officers, and staff.

Institutional Goals

🧐The Governing Council aims to elevate Ajayi Crowther University’s ranking among the world’s top 1000 universities.


👉🏼Prof. Adebayo had earlier praised the university’s Mind Education programme (integrated into the curriculum) as a highly impactful initiative with significant positive student outcomes.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike.
