The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied claims by a news platform that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is no longer a prerequisite for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Director of Public Affairs and Protocols, JAMB categorically stated that the Minister of Education, Dr. Mauruf Alausa, never made any such announcement. The Board views this publication as malicious and preposterous.
The misquoted statement appears to have originated from a misinterpretation of the Federal Government's efforts to increase access to tertiary education in Nigeria. The government’s initiative aims to streamline admission requirements and expand opportunities for prospective students.
PUBLIC NOTICE 🪧
The general public is advised to disregard the unfounded information. JAMB will continue to discharge its statutory duties in line with its enabling laws. We urge everyone to verify information through official channels before accepting it as true.
