The Senate of Lagos State University (LASU) has elected Professor Oluwatoyin Ayokunle Enikuomehin as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the institution.

The election, which took place on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, saw Professor Enikuomehin, a Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), emerge victorious with 206 votes, defeating his contender, Professor Ishmael Omah of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences, who garnered 4 votes.

Professor Enikuomehin succeeds Professor Adenike Omotunde Boyo, whose two-term tenure of four years will officially come to an end on Saturday, 11th October 2025. The election of the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) remains subject to ratification by the Governing Council of the University.

Following the Council’s ratification, Professor Enikuomehin is expected to assume office on Sunday, 12th October 2025.

Profile of Professor Oluwatoyin Ayokunle Enikuomehin

Professor Enikuomehin is a distinguished academic and technology expert with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation, and ICT Policy Development. He joined LASU in 2006 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and has since risen to the rank of Professor.

A Prince from the Enikuomehin Royal Family of Okitipupa, Ondo State, Professor Enikuomehin earned his B.Sc. in Mathematics (Computer Science Option) in 2001, M.Sc. in Mathematics with Computer Science in 2005, and Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2012—all from the University of Ilorin. He also undertook advanced research in Intelligent Systems and Computational Analysis at the University of Lorraine, France, in 2012.

His international engagements include academic and research collaborations with institutions such as the University of Houston (USA), City University of London (UK), University of Rwanda, and Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (USA), where he served as a Visiting Professor.

Within LASU, Professor Enikuomehin has contributed immensely to academic excellence, digital innovation, and institutional reforms. His research interests span Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and web services integration—particularly in advancing smart governance and cybersecurity systems.

He has served on various key committees within the University, including those focused on ICT policy, digital transformation, and institutional efficiency. His leadership style is participatory and data-driven, aimed at fostering transparency and resilience in university administration.

Professor Enikuomehin is also a member of LASU’s Governing Council and the Court of Governors of LASU College of Medicine (LASUCOM). Outside the University, he serves as a Resource Expert to the National Universities Commission (NUC) on Artificial Intelligence Curriculum Design and a Visiting ICT Consultant to the University of Sierra Leone.

With over ninety scholarly publications to his credit, Professor Enikuomehin is widely recognised as a thought leader in AI for Governance and Digital Transformation. His vision is to promote a digitally intelligent governance ecosystem that leverages Artificial Intelligence for efficient, transparent, and inclusive service delivery.

Professor Enikuomehin is happily married and blessed with children.
