The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has matriculated 17,611 new students, urging them to explore their wider interests and passions beyond their academic programmes. Speaking at the 29th Matriculation Ceremony, NOUN's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Peters, emphasized the importance of transforming oneself into a well-rounded, innovative, and resourceful individual.

17,611 new students matriculated, comprising 12,175 undergraduate students, 5,357 postgraduate students, 11 MPhil/PhD students, and 68 PhD students. Professor Peters encouraged students to take full advantage of NOUN's flexible learning opportunities to pursue their academic and personal goals.

The Vice-Chancellor highlighted NOUN's commitment to offering quality, accessible, and flexible education that eliminates barriers of time, location, and circumstance. 

NOUN's Open and Distance Learning (ODL) model offers flexibility to learn at one's own pace, time, and place. The university's counselling services and academic resources have been strengthened to provide better support.

Students are encouraged to uphold the values of integrity, hard work, and excellence, and build meaningful networks.
