⚡ BOOM🔥🔥OAU REACTS TO 2025 ADMISSION COURT ORDER, QUERIES APPLICANTS’ LAWYER.

The Legal Unit of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has questioned the legitimacy of a letter submitted by Hon. Kene Nnadi, the counsel representing candidates in the ongoing admission-related case involving the University, the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

This development comes days after the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu issued an interim order directing UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB to maintain the current state of affairs regarding the 2025/2026 academic session admission list.

In a letter dated October 4, 2025, and referenced VC/DLS.093/VOL. I/001, the University’s Director of Legal Services, Yinka Ayantola, Esq., observed that the seal affixed to Hon. Nnadi’s correspondence was his 2024 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) seal instead of the 2025 seal.

The Legal Unit reminded the lawyer of his duty to pay the practicing fee for the current year before being eligible to act in his professional capacity. Consequently, the University requested that he establish his right to practice law for 2025 in line with relevant legal requirements.

“I have the instructions of the University to request you to do the needful,” the letter stated.

The communication was copied to the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Registrar, Chairman of the Committee of Deans, and the Director of Academic Affairs.

Recall that in the earlier ruling delivered by Hon. Justice T. Segun-Bello, the Federal High Court had ordered all parties in the admission dispute to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive motion on notice.

The case, which was instituted by five applicants—Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbemi, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak—on behalf of other affected candidates, was adjourned to October 28, 2025, for hearing.
