The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval to the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) to introduce three new undergraduate programmes and postgraduate degrees in two departments.

The newly approved undergraduate programmes include BSc Cyber Security, BSc Marine Science, and BSc Meteorology, while the postgraduate programmes comprise Postgraduate Diploma, Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in both Civil Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Temi Ologunorisa, the approval is a testament to OAUSTECH’s dedication to academic excellence and innovation. The new programmes are designed to equip students with globally competitive skills and knowledge.

"We are thrilled to introduce these new programmes, which will not only enhance the academic offerings of our institution but also provide students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world," Professor Ologunorisa said.

The university will commence admissions into the new undergraduate programmes once they are listed on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal. The introduction of Marine Science is expected to benefit the coastal communities in Ondo State by creating career opportunities in maritime and environmental sectors.

The Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Cecelia Oluwamodupe, lauded the achievement as a significant milestone in the institution’s academic growth, praising the leadership of Professor Ologunorisa and the Governing Council Chairman, Dr. Akimbo Adesomoju, for their efforts in securing the approvals.
