The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ekiti Chapter, has given a seven-day ultimatum to the relevant authorities to address the alleged abuse of office by the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, failing which it will embark on a mass protest at the university's main campus.

In a statement jointly signed by Comrades Segun Bankole (Chairman) and Silas Olawale (General Secretary), NYCN Ekiti Chapter expressed its disappointment and frustration over the alleged corruption and moral decay in FUOYE, which it said had prompted the council to seek redress.

According to the statement, the NYCN Ekiti Chapter had earlier submitted a detailed petition to the Presidency, relevant ministries, and national anti-corruption and security agencies, exposing the alleged malfeasance in FUOYE. However, the council claimed that its efforts had yielded no results, hence the decision to protest.

The statement read in part: "We have waited long enough. The time for action is now. Effective Monday, 3rd November 2025, NYCN Ekiti will relocate its operational headquarters to FUOYE Main Campus. We will remain there in peaceful mass protest until our demands are met."

NYCN's Demands:

1. Non-negotiable suspension of Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina as Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE.

2. Removal of Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) as Council Chairman.

3. Independent investigation of all sexual abuse cases and prosecution of offenders.

4. Suspension of the current Vice Chancellorship selection process.

5. Forensic audit of FUOYE finances since 2021.

6. Restoration of lawful governance and protection for whistleblowers.

The NYCN Ekiti Chapter called on all Nigerian youth, students, and civil society groups to join them in the peaceful protest, saying: "This peaceful protest is to show President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as visitor to FUOYE, that Nigerian youth will not tolerate corruption, moral decay, or injustice in our institutions."
