The Students' Union Government (SUG) of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the recent increment in tuition fees announced by the institution's management ahead of the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement jointly signed by the SUG President, Salami Akeem; General Secretary, Bakare Jamiu Abiodun; and Public Relations Officer, Mosadoluwa Ajidaba, the union described the development as sudden and inconsiderate, lamenting that it has thrown many self-sponsored students into fear and uncertainty.
The SUG is committed to seeking a reduction in the highly increased fee and urges students to remain calm while negotiations with management are ongoing. The union also urged both fresh and returning students not to make any payment or begin registration until the outcome of ongoing negotiations is made public.
Meanwhile, the university management has announced that academic activities for the 2025/2026 academic session will commence on Sunday, November 9, 2025. The management disclosed that online screening and registration for new students, alongside registration for returning students, will hold between November 9 and 15, while physical resumption and faculty-based course exposition are slated for November 16 to 22. Lectures are expected to begin on November 23, 2025.
The SUG reiterates its commitment to engaging with the university management to resolve the fee increase issue. We urge all students to remain calm and united while awaiting the outcome of the negotiations.
