The Federal Ministry of Education has emphatically stated that it has not issued any directive for schools across Nigeria to shut down on November 24, 2025. In an official statement released today, the Ministry described a circulating social‑media report alleging a nationwide shutdown as false, misleading, and unverified.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, signed a disclaimer urging the public to rely only on information from official channels.

This clarification follows the Federal Government’s announcement on Friday that 41 federal secondary schools in high‑risk areas will be closed due to recent abductions in Niger and Kebbi States. Several states, including Kwara, Plateau, Katsina, Niger, and Taraba, have also ordered school closures or de‑boarding of students amid rising insecurity.

The Ministry reiterates the importance of relying on verified information to avoid unnecessary panic and urges all stakeholders to consult official communication channels for updates.

Signed,
Folasade Boriowo
Spokesperson, Federal Ministry of Education.
