Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has sacked the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Muhammad Baba Ibrahim, and all permanent members of the Board. The decision, which takes immediate effect, is part of the administration's efforts to reposition and strengthen the education sector for enhanced efficiency, accountability, and improved service delivery.

The sacked members include:

👉🏻Muhammad Baba Ibrahim - Chairman

👉🏻Hajiya Kaka Ibrahim Wabi - Permanent Member I

👉🏻Haruna Arafat Abubakar Magaji - Permanent Member II

👉🏻Barr. Maryam Kolo - Permanent Member III

👉🏻Abdul Razak Mu'azu Jikantoro - Permanent Member IV

👉🏻Dr. Aminu Aliyu Wushishi - Secretary of the Board

All members of the Board, including the Secretary, have been directed to hand over all official documents, assets, and responsibilities of the Board to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law.
