President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Education, Mr. Olatunji Alausa, to expedite efforts to resolve the ongoing industrial dispute with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The President emphasized the need to avoid another strike that could disrupt academic activities in Nigerian universities.

After meeting with the President, Minister Alausa stated that the government has met most of ASUU's demands and is working to secure further concessions. "The President has mandated us that he doesn’t want ASUU to go on strike, and we’re doing everything humanly possible to ensure that our students stay in school," Alausa said.

The Minister highlighted the establishment of a single committee to negotiate with all tertiary staff unions, including ASUU, ASUP, and COSUASU. He also announced the launch of a new Federal Tertiary Institution Governance and Transparency Portal, which publishes data on enrolment, budget allocations, and other key metrics.
