Kwara State Polytechnic is deeply saddened to announce the tragic death of its former student, Oyelade Habeeb Olawale, in a cult-related clash on the institution’s campus on Tuesday. Olawale, a Civil Engineering student (Matric No. ND/20/CEC/FT/206), was caught in a violent confrontation involving former students affiliated with various cult groups.

The polytechnic’s management confirms that several suspects linked to the incident have been detained and handed over to the police for thorough investigation and prosecution. Halimat Garba, Public Relations Officer, expressed profound regret over the loss, stating, “We deeply regret the loss of life and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

The institution condemned all forms of violence and illegal activities on or around campus, emphasizing that security personnel responded swiftly to restore order. “Normalcy has since returned, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement to ensure justice is served,” Garba said.

In a statement, Garba urged the polytechnic community to resume normal academic and administrative activities, assuring continued vigilance against cultism and violence. “The Polytechnic remains committed to maintaining peace and safety. We encourage staff and students to report any suspicious behavior to authorities,” she added.
