Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has received a significant boost to its infrastructure development with the approval of a ₦1 billion Special Intervention Project grant from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). The funding is earmarked for the completion of the University Library Annex.

Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, Vice Chancellor of KWASU, announced this during a briefing with ™Hølå INFO ahead of the university's 13th Convocation Ceremony. "The university continues to grow steadily under TETFund's support, focusing on constructing new facilities and maintaining existing ones," he said.

Highlights of KWASU's ongoing development include:👇🏻

👉🏻Modern Facilities: All 11 faculties feature ultramodern smart classrooms.

👉🏻Key Projects:

    - The Experience Centre (donated by the Office of Nigeria’s First Lady and TETFund) nears completion.
    - Central Laboratory (Central Bank of Nigeria donation) is at an advanced stage.
    - Faculty of Law building construction is progressing.

👉🏻Accommodation: A 150-room, 600-bed hostel (via Public-Private Partnership with Rangeman Construction Ltd.) is operational.

👉🏻Research & Entrepreneurship:

    - KWASU scholars win high-impact grants (e.g., National Research Fund for engineering and agriculture).

    - Undergraduate entrepreneurship training equips students to create jobs.

👉🏻Women Development: Four Centres graduate women with skills in fashion and entrepreneurship; beneficiaries receive industrial sewing machines, phones, and mentorship.

Convocation Details:

👉🏻8,119 students graduate, including 82 first-class, 426 Master's, and 82 Doctoral degrees.

KWASU remains committed to expanding infrastructure while nurturing academic and entrepreneurial growth.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law.
