Lagos State University (LASU) welcomed 14,893 new students at its 2025-2026 matriculation ceremony, with Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, warning against cultism, hooliganism, and other vices.

Addressing the freshmen, Prof. Olatunji-Bello emphasized the importance of respect, lawfulness, and academic focus. "As students of this world-class university, abide by rules, attend lectures regularly, shun deviant behaviours, and avoid bad company," she said. "Cultism, exam malpractice, corruption, and hooliganism will not be tolerated - those found guilty face disciplinary action."

Congratulating the students on securing admission among over 70,000 applicants, she highlighted LASU's student-centred approach, fostering generational leaders in an environment of freedom, growth, and excellence. "Your security is paramount - report any suspicious activities to authorities."

The VC stressed LASU's focus on character development, producing transformative graduates, and zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence. "If harassed or assaulted, don't keep silent. If you see something, say something," she urged.
