The University of Benin (UNIBEN) announces with profound sadness the passing of its former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Baikie, at the age of 94. The esteemed academic and leader succumbed to the will of God, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and contributions to the institution and the nation.

Prof. Baikie's tenure as Vice-Chancellor is remembered for his visionary leadership and commitment to academic excellence. His impact on UNIBEN and the broader educational landscape will be deeply missed.

The management, staff, and students of UNIBEN extend condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Prof. Baikie. Tributes are being prepared to celebrate his life and achievements.

                        1 minutes read ⏱️ 9:45pm The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of several officials of the Academic Staff Union of Universities [ASUU], Imo State University [IMSU] Chapter, in connection with the ongoing strike action by the union. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law. ASUU-IMSU had embarked on strike to press home demands including payment of arrears, improved funding, and implementation of agreements with the state government.
