Lagos State University (LASU) congratulates one of its esteemed scholars, Professor Samuel Gbadebo Odewunmi, on his appointment as Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

A Professor of Transport Planning and Policy, and former Dean of the School of Transport and Logistics at LASU, Odewunmi's appointment was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and communicated by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.

The appointment, effective immediately, will remain in force until a substantive Vice Chancellor is appointed. The LASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, praised Odewunmi's achievement, citing his distinguished academic career and administrative competence.

LASU wishes Professor Odewunmi a successful tenure and continued contributions to academic excellence.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law.
