The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has officially reiterated that the National Identification Number (NIN) remains a mandatory prerequisite for all students intending to sit for the 2026 Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
In a statement released today, the Commission emphasized a "no NIN, no exam" policy, underlining that the integration of the NIN into the examination registration process is essential for enhancing data integrity and eliminating examination malpractice, such as personation.
Key Directive for Candidates and Parents
To ensure a seamless registration process for the upcoming academic cycle, NIMC advises:👇🏻
☝🏻 Early Enrollment: Students who do not yet possess a NIN are urged to visit any NIMC enrollment center nationwide immediately.
☝🏻 Data Verification: Existing NIN holders should ensure their linked cellular lines are active and that their personal details (name spelling and date of birth) align perfectly with school records.
☝🏻 Zero Tolerance: Registration portals for major examination bodies will require a valid NIN to validate the identity of every applicant; without it, the registration cannot be finalized.
