Students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Ekheuan Campus, took to the streets yesterday, protesting against the prolonged absence of electricity and water supply. The demonstration, which began early morning, saw students blocking the main gate of the institution, demanding immediate intervention from the university administration.

According to eyewitnesses, the power outage has lasted for three days, with some students alleging that the university's generators are not functioning properly. The water scarcity has also reached a critical point, with students claiming they have been forced to rely on alternative, unhygienic sources.

The protest, which has garnered attention from local authorities, highlights the growing frustration among students who have been forced to endure these hardships for an extended period. The students are calling on the university management to address these issues urgently, warning that academic activities may be disrupted if their demands are not met.

The University of Benin administration has yet to release an official statement regarding the protest. As the situation unfolds, students remain resolute, seeking a swift resolution to the crisis.

Update: The protest is ongoing, with students maintaining their blockade of the school gate. Local authorities are reportedly engaging with student representatives to resolve the issue.
