The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has reinstated its Students' Union Government (SUG) after a nine-year suspension, marking a new era in student governance. The reinstatement follows a pledge by Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola to revive student unionism, emphasizing responsible leadership and student welfare.


The newly elected SUG leader is Mr. Martins, Abiodun Abdur-Rafii, who serves as the President. Other elected executives include:👇🏻

☝🏻Vice President: Mr. Akinsulire, Bisoye Olaniyi.

☝🏻General Secretary: Mr. Babalola, Olufemi Paul.

☝🏻Public Relations Officer: Mr. Adegunoye, Olakunle Charles.

☝🏻Treasurer: Mr. Suleimon, Taiwo Adeola

These leaders were elected as part of the University of Lagos' efforts to revive student unionism after a nine-year suspension.

The SUG will operate under a centralized structure to promote unity and rebuild trust between students and the administration.

The university management has assured stakeholders that the SUG will thrive, focusing on student welfare, campus life, and constructive engagement. This development comes after years of advocacy by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and Senior Advocate Femi Falana's assurance of support.
