The University of Maiduguri has formally admitted 6,553 students into the institution for the 2025/2026 academic session today 10|03|2026. Speaking at the 44th Matriculation Ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele warned new students against social media abuse, drug addiction, and other social vices.

The new intakes were drawn from UTME, Direct Entry, and the University's Remedial Arts and Science programmes. Professor Mele emphasized a "zero-tolerance" policy for misconduct, stating that the University would expel and prosecute any student found guilty of examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, or misusing social media.

The Registrar, Ahmad Alhaji Lawan, reaffirmed the University's commitment to providing a conducive learning environment and robust support services.
