Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) has admitted 6,505 students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The institution formally welcomed the new intakes during its matriculation ceremony held in Sokoto.

Addressing the students, Vice-Chancellor Professor Bashir Garba described the ceremony as a significant milestone marking their entry into the university community. He urged them to approach their studies with integrity, discipline, and responsibility, noting their admission was a result of merit and hard work.

"You must justify the confidence placed in you by remaining focused and committed to excellence," Garba said. He highlighted the university's growth since its establishment in 1975, from 93 undergraduate students to a multi-faculty institution.

The new students are spread across faculties including Agriculture, Social Sciences, and Engineering. Garba assured them of a conducive learning environment to nurture responsible graduates.

Students' Union Government President Tasiu Aminu advised the freshers to take their studies seriously, as the 100-level year lays the foundation for success.

The ceremony was attended by university officials, parents, and stakeholders, officially welcoming the students to UDUS.
