Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria, is saddened to announce the sudden passing of Toluwase Jesutunmise, a 500-level student, who collapsed during a football training session on the university campus on Monday.

According to the institution's statement, Toluwase had been participating in the practice when he complained of leg discomfort and fatigue. Despite immediate medical attention, including CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the emergency unit.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake, described Toluwase as a lively and committed student, and his death a profound loss to the university community. Investigations suggest an undiagnosed heart condition may have contributed to the incident.

The university's medical personnel responded promptly, and management members have been supporting the family. The institution extends condolences to the student's family and the campus community mourns his loss.
