The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced strategic adjustments to examination questions and schedules as part of measures to address cross-border examination leakages across member countries.  

Speaking on _Badwam_ on Adom TV, the Head of Public Affairs of WAEC, Mr. John Kapi, disclosed that the Council has revised both the content and timing of examinations to safeguard the integrity of the assessment process.  

“Although Ghana and Nigeria previously wrote the same examination questions at the same time, changes have now been introduced. We’ve made adjustments to the questions and timing. Starting earlier helps prevent cross-border leakages,” Mr. Kapi stated.  

He explained that the revisions became necessary following incidents of examination malpractice, locally referred to as “apor”, across borders. To mitigate this risk, WAEC has introduced variations in both examination questions and schedules for different member countries.  

Addressing the issue of time zones, Mr. Kapi noted: “Because Nigeria is an hour ahead of Ghana, the timing has been revised. Instead of the usual 9:00 am start time, examinations now begin at 8:30 am in Ghana, with corresponding adjustments made in Nigeria.”  

Mr. Kapi emphasized that these measures are designed to ensure fairness for all candidates and to uphold the credibility and integrity of WAEC examinations across the West African sub-region.  

WAEC remains committed to conducting examinations that meet international standards and reflect the true ability of candidates.
