The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) will arraign five suspects before the Federal High Court, Abuja, for alleged cybercrime and examination fraud related to the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The suspects, charged under case number *FHC/ABJ/CR/300/2026*, are accused of hacking into the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) server during the UTME Computer-Based Test (CBT). The charges border on cybercrime, examination malpractice, and cheating.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects gained unauthorised remote access to candidates’ computer systems while the examination was ongoing, in an attempt to compromise the integrity of the test. The operation followed intelligence-led investigations by the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with JAMB.

The IGP reiterated the Police Force’s commitment to protecting the credibility of Nigeria’s education system and warned all individuals involved in examination malpractice or cyber-assisted fraud to desist, as offenders will be identified, prosecuted, and brought to justice.
